Wills and Bequeaths

 

Unrestricted Bequeath

If you would like to place in your will an unrestricted bequeath to the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc., please include the following language:

"I give and bequeath to the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc. the sum of (amount) or (percent)% of my estate which I own at the time of my death or which I have the power of disposition.  The Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc. shall disperse said bequeath in accordance with the Articles of Incorporation of the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc. and any amendments and additions thereof at any time made."

 

Bequeath to the W. R. Bryan Diabetic Eye Disease Research Fund

If you would like to place in your will a bequeath to the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc. W. R. Bryan Diabetic Eye Disease Research Fund, please include the following language:

"I give and bequeath to the W.R. Bryan Diabetic Eye Disease Research Fund of the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc. the sum of (amount) or (percent)% of my estate which I own at the time of my death or which I have the power of disposition.  The Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc. shall disperse said bequeath in accordance with the Articles of Incorporation of the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc. and any amendments and additions thereof at any time made.  Disbursement shall also be in accordance with the stipulations of the originating document of the W. R. Bryan Diabetes Research Fund."

Bequeath for a Research Fellowship

If you would like to place in your will a bequeath for a Research Fellowship in your (or someone elses) name, please use the following language:

"I give and bequeath to the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc. the sum of (amount) or (percent)% of my estate which I own at the time of my death or which I have the power of disposition.  The Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc. shall disperse said bequeath in accordance with the Articles of Incorporation of the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc. and any amendments and additions thereof at any time made.   Disbursement shall be restricted to a Research Fellowship in the name of (name).   Said fellowship shall be designated as "The (name) Research Fellowship."

A bequeath for a Research Fellowship must be not less than $3,000.  If the bequeath is for more than the stipend usually designated for a Research Fellow ( $2,000 - $4,000), the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation will name more than one student  as a (designated name) Research Fellow in successive years.  A bequeath of $100,000 will provide for a Research Fellowship in the designated name in perpetuity.

 

Bequeath for Research on a Specific Disease

If you would like to place in your will a bequeath for research into a specific disease ( for example, Age Related Macular Degeneration, also see list below), please use the following language:

"I give and bequeath to the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc. the sum of (amount) or (percent)% of my estate which I own at the time of my death or which I have the power of disposition.  The Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc. shall disperse said bequeath in accordance with the Articles of Incorporation of the Ohio LIONS Eye Research Foundation, Inc. and any amendments and additions thereof at any time made.   Disbursement shall be restricted to the study, treatment or cure of ( Name of Disease)."

  7. Dry Eye
  8. Gene Therapy
  9. River Blindness
  10. Retinal Degenerations
  11. Micro ophthalmia (small eyes)
  12. Eye Transplantation
  13. Refractive Surgery
  14. Optic Nerve Disease (e.g., Optic Atrophy, Optic Nerve Hypoplasia)
  15. Infant Vision and Eye Development
  16. Myopia (nearsightedness)
  17. Keratoconus
  18. Corneal Wound Healing
  19. Corneal Dystrophy
  20. Light Damage to the Eye
  21. Immunology
  22. Night Blindness
